SMS Opt-In & Consent Flow

Use this form to opt in to GuiltTrip text messages on your own number — or skip it and use GuiltTrip without texts. This is SMS consent only — it never schedules or places a call; every call has its own consent page and happens only after your explicit yes there.

In one line

GuiltTrip is a gift service: a purchaser pays for a short, AI-voiced comedy “roast” phone call to be placed to someone they know. The purchaser delivers a private consent-page link to that person from their own phone — GuiltTrip sends no unsolicited first-contact text. The recipient opts in on that page (18+, “Yes — call me”) before any call, and every message GuiltTrip itself sends is after that opt-in (a scheduling confirmation, a recording-ready link) or to a number that opted in on the Web Form above. STOP and HELP are honored on every number.

A gift purchaser provides the recipient’s first name and mobile number at checkout on guilttrip.io and attests that the recipient is an adult they personally know. GuiltTrip then arms a private, per-recipient consent-page link and hands it to the purchaser, who delivers it to the recipient from their own phone (their own text, iMessage, or share sheet) — a peer-to-peer message between two people who know each other. GuiltTrip sends no unsolicited SMS to the recipient. The recipient opts in on that page by confirming they are 18 or older and tapping “Yes — call me.” Only after that affirmative opt-in does GuiltTrip send any SMS to the number (a scheduling confirmation, and a recording-ready link) and place the call. If the number is on our do-not-contact list, the consent page refuses and no call can be placed — no matter who shares the link. STOP is honored instantly and platform-wide across texts and calls, and HELP is supported on every number. Consent is an affirmative action the recipient takes themselves — never assumed, never pre-checked, never transferable.

First contact is peer-to-peer: the purchaser sends the consent-page link to the recipient from their own device — GuiltTrip does not originate this message. The delivery screen offers a prefilled, fully editable draft (Taylor = recipient; the link ends in a unique per-recipient token). A representative draft:

It comes from someone the recipient knows, and the full AI-comedy-call disclosure, the recorded notice, and the STOP/opt-out choices all live on the consent page the link opens (§3). GuiltTrip’s own A2P messages begin only after the recipient opts in there.

The link the purchaser shares opens a per-recipient consent page. It discloses the AI call and that it is recorded; the recipient affirmatively checks an un-pre-checked 18+ box, and only then does the “Yes — call me” button activate. This is the actual page, captured live:

The consent page itself lives at a private, token-scoped URL (guilttrip.io/c/<token>) unique to each recipient, so it is not publicly linkable — hence this documentation page.

Every SMS GuiltTrip sends is post opt-in. Frequency varies; typically 1–3 messages per gift or call — a scheduling confirmation and a notification when the call recording is ready. (The purchaser’s own first-contact message is peer-to-peer and not counted here.) This is not a recurring subscription and never a marketing blast. Message and data rates may apply.
